RNACOREX designs and runs immunization programs in farm animals — llamas, goats, rabbits, poultry and other species depending on the project. The llama remains our reference species: its heavy-chain-only immune response, distinct from conventional antibodies, makes it a preferred partner for generating high-affinity VHH nanobodies.
Each protocol is custom-designed around the target antigen, the species and the project's objective (immune library, repertoire study, naive RNA production). A progressive injection schedule is established, with regular serological monitoring to confirm the immune response has risen sufficiently before any tissue collection.
A strict ethical framework, from protocol to animal.
All our protocols are conducted in accordance with EU Directive 2010/63 on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes — one of the most stringent regulatory frameworks worldwide for animal welfare. Every program follows the 3Rs principle (Replace, Reduce, Refine): animals are used only when no non-animal alternative is available, the number of animals and procedure severity are kept to a minimum, and protocols are continuously refined to limit suffering.
Ethics committee review
Every immunization protocol is submitted for prior review by an independent ethics committee before implementation.
Continuous veterinary supervision
Injections, sample collection and health monitoring are carried out by qualified veterinary staff.
Animal welfare monitoring
Each animal is individually monitored, with regular assessment of its general condition and tolerance to the protocol.
Severity classification
The severity of each procedure is classified and documented in line with EU Directive 2010/63 requirements.

Pre-immune sampling
A baseline blood sample is collected before the first injection to establish a serological reference point.
Priming injections
Administration of the target antigen on a progressive schedule, with a suitable adjuvant, over several weeks.
Boosts & serological monitoring
Regular booster injections, with serological titration to track the rise of the specific antibody titer.
Final sampling
Once the immune response is judged sufficient, the targeted tissue (peripheral blood or other) is collected for RNA extraction.
